Schedule
Being on the summer swim team means getting in the pool bright and early! Practices occur every weekday morning, with start and end times depending on the age group. Regular practice times for each age group are posted on the website.
MONDAY-TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY
Outdoor Practice
Outdoor morning practices begin Monday, June 3rd and run weekly until Friday, July 19th at the Bartlett Aquatic Center – 620 W Stearns Rd, Bartlett, IL 60103. Practice times vary by age group. After the final dual meet, practice times will change depending on which Conference Meet your child is assigned.
Swimmers will not be able to participate in practice until the swimmer/family has registered on SwimTopia.
Attendance
Practices are mandatory! Each practice we focus on a different essential skill for success in the pool -- the more practices you attend, the more you will get out of the program. The coaches understand swimmers participate in other activities outside of swimming throughout the summer. However, we have a minimum practice attendance requirement of one practice per week to participate in that week’s meet(s). Contact a coach with any questions/conflicts you may have regarding practice attendance if it impacts meet eligibility.
General Rules
- Be on time
- All pool rules apply to swim team members
- No parents allowed on deck
- Notify the coaches if you will miss a practice that affects meet eligibility
Dryland
Select practices and days that are too cold to swim will include non-swimming activities known as Dryland -- cardiovascular, flexibility and strength activities. Swimmers are expected to dress appropriately for the weather and always have socks and gym shoes available in addition to regular practice gear to be prepared for dryland activities.
Transportation
Swimmers must have a ride to and from practice. Please be timely in arrival to and departure from practice. Kids may ride their bikes to practice and park them inside the fence (bring a lock). Please contact a coach if you will be more than five minutes late picking up your child.
Weather
Coaches may decide to postpone or cancel practices due to inclement weather. The coaches will use Remind to notify swimmers and parents of changes.
If lightning is spotted or the Thorguard alarm sounds a single, continuous tone, the pool deck must be cleared immediately. All individuals in the facility will be advised to seek shelter in the locker room or their cars until the all-clear signal or coaches cancel practice. The all-clear signal for the Thorguard is three separate tones.
Swimmers will not be expected to enter the water if the outdoor temperature is below 58⁰F and dryland practice will replace in-water activities. The pool supervisor has the final decision for allowing swimmers into the pool regarding both temperature and inclement weather.
